SRT Demon Literally Claws Pavement

What good is all the horsepower in the world if it can’t be properly managed and transferred to the ground? Dodge answered this nagging question for us with their latest SRT Demon teaser video “Multiplication”.

In video 3 they announced that the Dodge SRT Demon will come factory outfitted with the next best thing to racing slicks – ultra sticky Demon-branded 315/40R 18 Nitto NT05R street (barely legal) drag radials measuring 12.6″ wide. These Nitto’s were specially engineered and designed exclusively for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon using a new rubber compound and tire construction technique.

Higher launch torque loads can now be achieved from the increased traction and higher tire profile. Of course Dodge’s next logical step was upgrading the road tearing machine with a higher stall speed torque converter and 3.09 rear axle gears hence the “Multiplication” title of the teaser.

This new found torque multiplication translates into some very impressive numbers when compared with the SRT Hellcat. Expect there to be a 15 percent larger tire contact patch, more than double the grip, converter torque multiplication increase of 18 percent, and an increase in rear axle torque multiplication by a whopping 18 percent.

When all of those figures are added up, the Dodge Demon will be generating a neck breaking 35+ percent higher launch force than a Challenger Hellcat.

Track focused cars from other manufacturers have been all the rage as of late however Dodge is taking the opposite approach staying true to its roots. There is still a market out there purely focused on getting down the quarter mile as quick as possible with insane amounts of hook up and power. After all, who’d turn down the opportunity to strap themselves into a rocketship and get pinned into their seat so hard they can barely see straight?

There are still seven weeks left and things only seem to be ramping up. The tension in waiting for the official power specs has been unbearable but the SRT Demon is definitely starting to live up to the hype.
