The latest video in the string of teasers from FCA has been unlocked shedding a bit more light on the specs and features of the upcoming 2018 Dodge Demon.

The video, appropriately named “Crate”, alludes to the fact that the car will come accompanied by a custom painted demon crate containing go-fast parts. More specifically, the crate features 18 components that maximize the Challenger SRT Demon’s flexibility, exclusivity and future collectability. This includes:

  • Direct Connection Demon Performance Parts
  • Demon-branded track tools
  • Matching Demon spare wheels
  • Demon Track Pack System

According to the FCA press release, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be able to provide owners with multiple options for driving/racing purposes.

“The Challenger SRT Demon provides a platform from which each customer can design their own ultimate “Street/Strip” muscle car. It’s not intended for a road course; rather, each customer can decide at the time of order, or once they own the car, or even on a moment’s notice that they want their car to favor street performance, drag strip performance or something in between.”

This of course debunks the common myth out there that the Dodge Demon will be nothing more than a gutted out, single-seat drag strip racer.

Another interesting clue hidden deep within the FCA press release was an image of a Demon owner/vin plate. To date, we’ve discovered that the SRT Demon will weigh 232lbs less than the Hellcat. From a past teaser entitled “Body”, we’ve also learned that it will feature a widebody with fender flares housing wider wheels wrapped in Demon-branded 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R drag radials. The one question nagging everyone however is how much horsepower will the new beast put out. This owner plate image may have just exposed that mystery.

Dodge executives would have us know that nothing is a mistake in all of the images and videos they provide us. According to them, nothing is a coincidence and everything means something. With that in mind, the serial number reading 0757 on the owner plate could very well be telling us that the 2018 Dodge Demon will be cranking out 757 horsepower – 50 more ponies than the Hellcat.

If you remember back to the Hellcat teaser shots they had SiriusXM channel ’70s on 7 playing on the radio screen which indicated 707hp. This would be following that same logic.

The name in the “Built For” box is that of the famous Tom Coddington. He was a part of the group of drag racing engineers who formed Dodge’s Ramchargers in the early 60’s which established the marque as a muscle car. The VIN number 001121 isn’t quite as obvious of a clue. It could mean the Dodge Demon will run an 11.21s 1/4 mile time but given that the Hellcat pulls it off in 11.2s makes this seem unlikely.

One could also swap the places of the 2 numbers developing a crazier theory that the SRT Demon will produce 1,121 horsepower and run a 7.57 1/4 mile.

Another unsolved mystery is still the license plate in the photo Dodge released a few weeks ago. Many theories have come out attempting to decipher the meaning of the license plate displaying #2576@35 however Dodge execs have noted that no one has guessed the right answer yet!

More teasers are on their way but its highly likely that Dodge is saving the official power and performance figures for the April 11, 2017 unveiling at the New York Auto Show.
